Crazy with a capital C

First, I just noticed that crazy and lazy rhyme. Last Saturday I was lazy and today I'm crazy. Common themes, I suppose.

Anyway, I have a baby shower on Sunday, a Tastefully Simple party on Friday night and about 100 things to do for both. I'm NUTS. Sawyer needs his hair re-cut, the gal did a terrible job. I need to get products and decorations for the shower, plus order the food. I need to organize the gifts I've bought, hopefully make a little something, put together the favors, and ORDER THE FOOD. Especially since the food is the focus. (Isn't it always, though?!)

I can defintely see I will NOT be taking the boys to Disneyland this week, I have bunco tonight and all kinds of crazy other stuff to do in between now and then. Like, a week ago I needed to work on the bunco can.

Must jet. Modge Podge is calling my name. (And those dang phone calls...)

As lazy as lazy can be

I think I could classify myself as one of the laziest living people. Really. I have no ambition to get up - yet both boys need to get dressed, I need to shower and Cam has a baseball orientation in one hour. Yup, baseball. The elder is going to start playing baseball. Of course, it'll just be t-ball and I'm sure it's not gonna be like soccer. But, he's playing nonetheless. (I'm excited about the hours I'll be spending at the field watching the oh so exciting game of baseball :insert eyeroll here:)

My continued laziness wants to just sit here -- but there are also new scenic route papers at Scrapbook Oasis in Irvine. I want them desperately, but feel little to no motivation to go over there and shop for them. Now if it were just closer...

I'm getting up now, I promise...

Henormous

Henormous. This is the word that Sawyer uses to say something is REALLY.BIG. Isn't that adorable? It's kind of like his use of the W instead of L. So, our friend Lili is Wiwi. I find it to be very cute and adorable, so I don't try to correct him. But, I guess he will be *4* soon - so I guess I should be more concerned with his speech than what I think is cute?

On a less endearing note, we were all up BEFORE 6 am today -- with both boys laying in bed with me. Grrrrr....mama is tired.

Disneyland today?

COMPLETELY awesome

I had a little spare time this morning (read, 10 minutes) so I stopped in Lowes to pick up an empty paint can. (The empty paint can is NOT the point) While I was walking to the check out, a paint swatch caught my eye. Now, this is to be expected since I'm still trying to figure out what to do in the scrapbooky, you see. It was a swatch with 4 colors that go together and I love it. It's like a cool drink - its a yummy yellow, aqua, fruit punch and something else. Sounds like love to me. I think I want mostly yellow with the other colors for accent. They sure are going to look DELISH.

Sawyer is growing. To be expected, I guess. But, I put a sweater on him today (with shorts, of course. It does seem like the cold has passed. YIPPEE) and it's a wee bit snug. Not like too tight, but just showing me there isn't much life left in it for him anymore. Not to mention that we are on countdown..only a few days more than 2 months until this boy turns *4*. I'm in total and complete denial.

Campbell told me today that they played football in Ian's front yard yesterday. (Ian is one of Cam's favorite pals from school) He told me that while they were playing if their foot touched the cement they were out of "bounce". I corrected him and now am seeing what a big boy he's becoming!

They are growing much too fast, I say. I know I can't keep 'em little, but how do I slow the days just a bit? (Remind me of that when sassy rears his head later.)

All in all, a very good day.

Thinking.

Yesterday I was reminiscing. I was working on the GOOD BYE JERSEY layout last night and as I went through the 30+ photos I was thinking about life there, about all of the good things that were in New Jersey. While we were there it was definitely hard to see the good. We knew we had lots to be thankful for, but it didn't feel like home.

There are a lot of funny pictures in the bunch - like the Ice Factory. Andy and I never understood that place - a whole store in LANDING devoted to ice?! Weird. The picture of Cam, Sawyer, Hayden and Max is funny - mostly because last night Sawyer asked me why Cam was laughing in the picture. I said I didn't know, and Sawyer replied it was because Hayden had pulled his pants down. That is EXACTLY what had happened and I can't believe he remembers that. That did happen 7 months ago.

The collage includes a picture of Campbell with Mrs. Banta and Mrs. Stadelman - and Sawyer didn't remember either one of them. Sad because he loved Mrs. Banta and she him. And when we moved, she teared up talking about how she wouldn't get to have him in class. Love that woman.

There is a photo of Fishkin's house -- feels like home to us. And a picture of Sammi and Rebecca. We'd spent a long afternoon together, having a picnic and playing sports in the baseball field. Such a good day.

Today both boys have a little cold - mostly just coughs. Cam took a nap and decided to sleep on the shelf area of his bed. A tiny space, to be sure - and he mentioned that he was pretty squished. You think?

Moms Night Out tonight -- just me, some friends and a bottle of 2 buck Chuck.

Busy, busy.

Been a busy working week. Listed 18 auctions on ebay last night - http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZhappy*scrappinQQhtZ-1 , have been scrapping like mad and the boys and I have been doing some fun things. Last night, we took a walk with the 2 wheelers down the street (sawyer did GREAT!) and played with shaving cream. Definitely a huge hit.

I've been scrapping too, which is great. I've done a few layouts, which I haven't done in MONTHS. I've worked on a couple of projects and there are many more I want to work on, too! A calendar, a birthday calendar, the Wino Bunko kit, quote notebook, recipe book, etc. The list just gets longer and longer. But, it's all good fun - so let it begin.

Andy is going out with people from work after work today and is working tomorrow. Perhaps tomorrow will be MOVIE MORNING and I will scrap - today maybe Brea or South Coast Plaza. Hard to say. I have to find a shirt I'm looking for.

SO.COLD. Colder today here than it is in NJ. How is that right??

More home improvements today - the end for a while. We had a new light put in the dining rooms and 5 new ceiling fans. Good bye to the brassy outdatedness and hello to much more attractive lighting. There is more I still want to do - new window coverings, outside lights and some landscaping. But for now this will do. It makes the house look much more updated. Gone are the white tiles, seafoam green carpet and the brassy accents. Love that.

Disney on Ice tonight. Hope the boys enjoy it as much as I think they will.

SNOWING.

Can you believe it? Snow in Southern California? Granted, it was only a very few flakes that lasted a few moments - but it was there and it was cold! Speaking of cold, we had a fire in the fireplace last night. I had the chimney sweep out last night and he told us all about it - and that the fireplace had NEVER been used. Well, we burned a nice little log and enjoyed ourselves.

Busy, busy months ahead -- many activities, shows, birthday parties, baby showers and many fun activities with friends - both big and small. One of my two bunco groups starts tonight - looking forward to it. Lots of fun girls getting together for drinks and fun - simple. LOVE that.

Monday, a good day

Today was Cam's first day back to school in *3* weeks. What a long vacation. I was ready to get back into our life, but was a little sad to send him off again. When he's happy he's a fun kid - but I know he was excited to go back to Mrs. McDonald and his friend. (I'm real tired from having to get up early for the first time in 3 weeks!)

We saw our friends again at a potluck lunch and Cam loved chasing and growling at Lili and Maya - and of course, playing with Jayden. His spirit is so loving with the younger folks (like Jayden who is 18 months) and dogs. It's really quite fun to watch. He and Jayden just play and play and Jayden's face lights up for Cam. Truly adorable.

Maybe we'll pick up the sequoia tomorrow. Would love to have my regular vehicle back though I am enjoying the Camry.

My goal is to start 2007 organized. I think some have heard this alot from me in the last few days. Want to download my pics and get them on dotphoto. Can't seem to sit in there and do it. Must do it.

Wanted to go to the OC Swap Meet with friends tomorrow, but just another way the punk who hit the Sequoia screws up my plans. Can't leave Andy without a car to go - so, will have to wait for a while. Will I download those pictures? Top of the list.

But I have organized some junk drawers gotten Cam a desk and rearranged a wee bit. It's a good start. Now, for those pictures...

Elated to be home

We, of course, had a wonderful trip to Iowa. It was wonderful to visit our old spots, see family and just BE. Here is a picture of the 4 McGarvey cousins, (Karlin, Sawyer, Fletcher and Campbell) and they all had a wonderful time together. It's amazing how they didn't miss a beat and were comfortable with each other from the first moment together on Christmas day. We got the kids together again two more times for more fun play. (And completely selfishly I enjoyed seeing Fletcher and listening to him -- I thought he was HILARIOUS and just so amusing.)

The trip was eventful with Sawyer's trip to the ER for 3 stitches, his being sick on the last night there and our sprint to the gate for our third and final flight yesterday.

We're so glad to be home, though. I KNEW that we had become Californian's - but yestday just solidified it. As we were driving home in the 70 degree weather I felt this huge rush of EASE and belonging. I felt like I was HOME. I feel this way in Iowa City too, but this was just such elation and warmth. Aaaah, it's all good.

Anyway, a list of things to do around here...and a million more errands to run. Unpacking and laundry -- already running one load of pukey clothes from last night (courtesy of Sawyer) and probably have 10 more to go. Luckily, my drying racks only hold so much, so some of it will have to wait until tomorrow!!
