fun abounds in these parts. we've got halloween parties under our belts, grandparents visiting and pumpkin carving. Tomorrow we're talking field trip (pumpkin patch), a birthday party, trick or treating and lots and lots of fun!

October fun!

October is a great month. What's odd about it to me is that the whole month is exciting and that all of the fun climaxes on the last day! How fun to enjoy warm, autumnal goodness until you get to dress up like someone else and then gorge yourself on sweet treats!

The great weekend started on Friday night when I had bunko. It was hosted by my friend Katrina and everyone came in costume. I couldn't beleive that every single person dressed up!

Saturday was typical fun with 2 overlapping soccer games, afternoon relaxation and dinner with friends. Very fun!

Yesterday we finished some things that needed to get finished and then headed to Temecula to the pumpkin patch. Here in my neck of the woods, "pumpkin patch" is a loosely described term. "Pumpkin Patches" crop up at exits off of the freeway, full of pumpkins, hay bales, jumpy's, snow cones and carnies. Not exactly what I have in mind.

This year, we at least came close to visiting a farm. It was an idyllic setting in the middle of Temecula's wine country. Very lovely. We all had loads of fun!

Harrison loved the goat that you see above and he had fun imitating the roosters in the petting zoo. There was also a "scary" corn maze that the kids could have spent hours in. Fun times!

The above pictured child, Sawyer, fell asleep during dinner. At the table, head on his arms. Completely, 100% asleep. What's especially odd about this is that we were at a restaurant. With our friends.

A trip down memory lane

Let's take a trip into my past, shall we? Just for a moment, okay?

This is my cousin, Anthea. Except, I don't really call her Anthea. I call her Beav. Or Beaver. Or B. Whatever I feel like in the moment. The other thing is that she's really not my cousin, she's more like a sister. (For the record, she *is* my cousin. Her mother is my mother's sister. She's just like a sister)

We're 2 years and 4 months apart in age, she's older. Okay, I lied. I'm older. And in 2 months, she's celebrating her 30th birthday. I'll be there.

She and I are a lot alike and alot different. We fit together. Like Gumby and Pokey. Like peanut butter and jelly. Like Paris and Sport Club (Maurices in the early 90's anyone?) or puke and the middle of the night.

She's been my friend since we were little girls and she'll be my friend when we're old ladies. We're good like that.

In other news: my baby is not going to be a dalmation for Halloween. But, wouldn't he be cute if he were?

I've been scrapping again. After taking more than a year off, for all practical purposes, I'm back in the saddle. It makes me really happy but my pocketbook, not so much. But, I digress...

I'll share the layouts that I completed yesterday and today. there are 3 plus one that I didn't take a photo of. The halloween layouts are from 2006, YES I'm 2 years behind. The one the baby is from a week or so ag0. I did a little pink on the page, baby boys can have pink on their pages.

Next, come the Christmas cards. (waiting for the cardstock and photos) Then, an ambitious December album. A page for the first 25 days in December. Actually, it'll be more than that. probably the whole month due to our Iowa trip. Until my card making begins, I'll be pumping out the layouts. YAY!

Sawyerism part 652

Our new Vons opened Friday. Some member of our family has been there 4 times already. We're in love. So is everyone else we know.

BLECH and a week in the life results

Let me begin by saying - blech. I live in a pukey house. Sawyer started after a birthday party on Saturday night. Proceeded to barf 25 times in 6 hours. The ped advised us to go to the ER. So, at midnight, the 5 of us loaded up and headed to Inland Valley. (Where Harry James was born) They gave Sawyer some Zofran (after upchucking twice at the hospital) and he was good to go. The DR thought Sawyer also had an ear infection and strep. He's on an antibiotic but has no symptoms? Unfortunately, I have bigger fish to fry.

Last night at bedtime, Andy got sick too. Now, this morning Harrison and Campbell are both sick too. Luckily, the baby only seems mild and Sawyer is fine now. I've got everything crossed that *I* escape this grossness!

Here is my Week In the Life project. I'm 100% done and about 70% happy with how it turned out. It's only okay, but I'm really glad that I did this -- someday I'll be able to see all of the mundane activities we do day to day.

As I walked in today, Mrs. Colson, Campbell's teacher, had a funny story for me.

One of the little girls in Cam's class had come up to Mrs. Colson and told her that Campbell had called her (the little girl) a hobo. Mrs. Colson was a bit confused and amused, so she called Campbell up and asked if it was true.

Campbell denied the charge, saying that he had actually called the girl a homo. Mrs. Colson let me know that she had to hold back her laughter and then Campbell added "it's a prefix!"

Never a dull moment!
